The parable of the cow and the pig

Once a rich man went to a priest. He was sad because his family and friends called him a miser and ridiculed him. He felt his family and friends were wrong as he was saving for his family. Once he passed on the other world, all the money he saved would be passed on to them.
The priest narrated a small parable - the parable of the cow and the pig.
Once a cow and a pig were having a heart-to-heart talk over evening drinks. The pig was pouring his heart's the cow. The pig was sad that no body loved him, people would shoo him away, give him no food and call him a 'pig' with contempt. What saddened him more was that once he died, the same people would love him as pork or ham or sausage.
He cow thought over it for sometime, took a sip from his glass and said - maybe try and be helpful to them when you are alive, the way I do it. While alive, I provide them with milk and once I die, they enjoy the beef. People love me and give me food and fodder to eat.
Be helpful to others while you are still alive, you will reap the benefits here on this earth itself.
