Viva – April 13, Friday

Had my ‘comprehensive’ viva today. I was 4th in turn in my batch. The sight of Prof. A K Seth was an ill omen…rigorous grilling was a sure event now in the group in which b present n unfortunately it was mine.. :(

My panel comprised of Kaul Sir, Ananya Mam, Nair Sir, Seth Sir n one External Member.

When I came in Kaul Sir introduced e as a ‘good student’ of the department..i was feeling happy n sad simultaneously ..happy for the confidence sir showed in me, n sad for I knew that Seth Sir wud grill me n all their expectations wud b shattered.

A expected Seth Sir asked for my favourite subject..marketing came the prompt reply…he asked 2 very simple questions define brand & market. both the questions I cud not answer completely an Seth Sir added vital points to my answers. The expression he had on his face when talking to ananya mam made me feel all the more miserable.

The external asked me some question pertaining to my dissertation. Again I gave some BHAG answers.

Nxt nair sir asked me about my placement.

Nxt was a question on my contribution towards the department. I highlighted my role as an alumni coordinator & alos as the one responsible for uploading ppts, take care of LCD, laptop etc etc . Ananya mam came to my rescue n called me her ‘Man Friday’ for tech works related to her Seminars n all

--End of viva--

Overall it was a big disappointment for me on a personal front..i was the one who made all the mistakes..the confidence my teachers had in me was badly shattered by now

Farewell - April 9, 2006

Had our farewell today both the official and the unofficial one. Though I was looking forward to it for the title I would get, but at the back of my mind I knew that it was to signal the end of a beautiful chapter of my life, my 2 years @ MBE filled with experiences, joys, mistakes, friends, learnings, vella marroing, PPTs n Reports (most of the times Just In Time J), the faculty n much more.

Got the title of DEXTER for love of tech things ranging form laptops, LCD, MP3 Player, IT helpdesk….n the list goes on. It was also supposed to symbolize that I am always buzy with something or the other…Kaul Sir commented that the title was apt form me…consider it to be an important compliment in my life…

It was followed by snacks n photo session. Got many snaps clicked..to my surprise there was a lineup of girls (atleast 4) waiting for a photo clicked with me

The informal party at RPM GK II was also great….though people came in late we had sufficient time to enjoy. Initially the DJ was playing soft music but most of the students felt that he did it for too long…but once he started playing the ‘disc like tracks’, it was good.

Enjoyed the dancing..i did my usual PT exercise like dance steps. But I enjoyed shouting the songs out n the music being played a that high volume…was feelin as if I were in a state of trance

To my surprise I was nominated as one of the 6 candidates for the title of ‘Mr. MBE’. I was paired opposite Deepika Sharma. was feelin good that juniors at least though me worthy of being nominated as a candidate. I knew I had no chance of winning. As expected, Sharad was chosen as Mr. MBE a good choice. Had a round of dance with our partners. Was fellin really awkward dancing in pair….towards the end of the dance, the fun was spoiled coz a ‘jerk’ takin too may pictures ….

It all ended by 11.30

It was followed by a hitch back home with Nitin Taank on his Karizma..was a NDE of sorts for me…

Good Friday & School Reunion - April 6, 2007.

Attended the morning Malayalam mass so that I cud attend the school reunion in the afternoon. The mass was a bit long as compared to my expectation and had The Way of The Cross in the form of a long procession. Chatted with Jitin, an MBA from IMTGhaziabad, for some time. He got placed with Satyam.

Came back all excited about the reunion, as even I had played a role in coordinating it over orkut. It was bit difficult to believe that we could plan out the reunion in just a week n by the responses on orkut, it seemed that there was a fair probability that attendance wud b good. But the real test of our efforts could be known only when we all met.

Had my lunch at home just to hedge the risk of people turning up late as I had fast that day. Also it cud help me reduce my expense(..though it turned out to be wrong, everyone had a sumptuous meal for 100 bucks!!)

Left by 12.45 in DTC 971. reached school by 1.30.

Deepika Ghai was the first person to turn up by 1.40, followed by Dimple Garg, Jyoti Jain & Gaurav Aggarwal.

By 2 there was a good strength n by 2.15 we decide to go to Metro Walk for lunch.

Siddharth Goel joined us for a short while at the school….was buzy but took some time out to meet us. He also called up Shubahm Gupta & Neha Jain and I had a talk with them. I was happy for his kind gesture. Dikshith Malhotra & Ayush Sharma also joined us for some moments.

We reached Metro Walk for our lunch. Some of the students had snacks at the food court n then we proceeded to Yo!China for our lunch n the talking part of the meet. People complimented me that I had changed for the better as now I was taking quite a lot as compared to the Nishal they knew 5 years ago.

Most importantly was feeling good that out efforts had borne fruits, 20 odd people at first attempt didn’t seem bad at all…..

Maundy Thursday - April 5, 2007

For the first time drove the car in absence of my instructor, Kumar. Was a real test of my learning so far. Besides me there was mom, baby aunty, neema n neeti in the car. Though the car stalled at a few places coz I removed my foot form the clutch bit too early, they said that I drove the car pretty well given the fact that it was dark. They complimented me that my driving was smooth like Tony Acchhan. Don’t know whether it was true or they were just trying to boost my moral. Overall it was a good experience, I first solo drive….
