based on a true incident
- since she got a call on landline phone
- n that too a boy!! (how intriguing. lets move on...)
- how he used to call her 'tashni' for her characteristic attitude and style;
- how once he got a friend of his click a photograph of both of them studying together - NS got pissed off and the fury was captured in the 'kodak moment' pic (which NS later tore into a zillion pieces);
- how he dreaded her caller id phone way back in school days which wud show before taking a call that our dude had called (ASR still vividly remembers the caller id phone) - worse still, most of the times NS's mother or brother wud pick the phone and our guy wud be at a loss of courage and volume to speak any further;
- the 'casual dress' for teacher's day celebration and how charming she was looking that day (used to be a day of reckoning for all school going teens)
- many more such incidents - am at loss of memory - sorry NS - old age you see

the serenity prayer
sunday, 16 august 2009
met AJ for lunch today. we were meeting after a span of over a year and a half. as usual, we had a long desultroy chat - ranging from going thru her civils prep notes to what next, how was ur trip back home, how is ur accommodation turning out to be, how was the wedding she attended at manali, what her friends were doing etc etc.
i too faced some conversations like howz my job going?, whats ur profile, howz ur family doing, discussion about my recent wall climbing experience et al.
some questions on spirituality as well poped up. one question that did give me a jolt was does God mean to me. dont remember what answer i had babbled, but the question did leave me thinking, what exactly does God mean to me. have i started taking him for granted that he is there n will always be there for us? dont knw. probably need some more time to figure it out.
she also gave me a writeup they had discussed in their church that morning. it had reflections on a verse form the prayer - our father in heaven "thy kingdom come, thy will be done". Also was this beautiful prayer, excerpts of which we all wud have come across, some point of time.
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Mending Wall by Robert Frost
That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it,
And spills the upper boulders in the sun,
And makes gaps even two can pass abreast.
The work of hunters is another thing:
I have come after them and made repair
Where they have left not one stone on a stone,
But they would have the rabbit out of hiding,
To please the yelping dogs. The gaps I mean,
But at spring mending-time we find them there.
I let my neighbor know beyond the hill;
And on a day we meet to walk the line
And set the wall between us once again.
We keep the wall between us as we go.
To each the boulders that have fallen to each.
We have to use a spell to make them balance:
'Stay where you are until our backs are turned!'
We wear our fingers rough with handling them.
Oh, just another kind of out-door game,
One on a side. It comes to little more:
He is all pine and I am apple orchard.
My apple trees will never get across
And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him.
He only says, 'Good fences make good neighbors'.
Spring is the mischief in me, and I wonder
If I could put a notion in his head:
'Why do they make good neighbors? Isn't it
Where there are cows?
But here there are no cows.
What I was walling in or walling out,
And to whom I was like to give offence.
Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
That wants it down.' I could say 'Elves' to him,
But it's not elves exactly, and I'd rather
Bringing a stone grasped firmly by the top
In each hand, like an old-stone savage armed.
He moves in darkness as it seems to me~
Not of woods only and the shade of trees.
He will not go behind his father's saying,
And he likes having thought of it so well
He says again, "Good fences make good neighbors."
